Rwanda Nkara Espresso

This sweet and floral coffee was grown by a number of small-scale producers, who are all members of the Dukunde Kawa cooperative in Rwanda’s Northern Province. Market Lane has worked with Dukunde Kawa every year since first opening its doors. This impressive and dynamic co-op produces consistently outstanding coffees and provides substantial support and value to its members, through agricultural training and social programs, and by connecting roasters with their beautiful coffees.

The farmers who produced this coffee delivered their coffee to Nkara, the smallest and most remote of Dukunde Kawa’s three washing stations. Nkara is managed by Michel Dusengimana, who has managed the washing station since it was built in 2007. It’s a particularly picturesque site, which looks out over rolling green hills, farms and verdant forests.
