The Planadas town of the Tolima region has a troubled history, suffering heavily from the internal conflict between the state of Colombia and the guerrilla groups. The local coffee farmers of the area were resilient enough to keep producing amazing quality coffee in spite of the surrounding conflict. After a signed peace agreement in 2016, tranquility returned to the Planadas area and this became an inflection point where the production of coffee increased as a result.
The San Fermin coffee growers are known for planting native trees for shade around their coffee plants and reducing their carbon footprint by installing a water filtration system to treat the wastewater of the wet mill. These environment focused initiatives will encourage stability in the region for many years to come.
It is Maker's pleasure to present the latest iteration of Maven featuring this lovely blend of caturra, colombia and castillo varieties from the San Fermin growers in Planadas. This might just be Maker's favourite Maven yet!
