Washed Ethiopian coffees are always celebrated in the Maker Roastery, so it delights us to present to you this washed coffee from the Chelchele washing station in the Kochere district of Ethiopia’s renowned Yirgacheffe region.

Grown by smallholder farmers on tiny garden plots, Chelchele coffees are known for their elegant sweetness and layered complexity. Expect a smooth backbone of black tea, lifted by floral aromatics and bright citrus notes of jasmine and bergamot respectively.

This lot is a special “Premium” preparation, made from carefully selected cherries collected from a limited number of farmers. Nearly all cherries are perfectly ripe and picked at peak color, then processed separately in small day lots. The coffee is washed using traditional methods—depulped the same day it’s harvested, fermented briefly for 8-16 hours, and slowly dried on raised beds—resulting in a clean, vibrant cup with exceptional clarity.

Naturally grown with minimal chemical inputs, this is a classic expression of washed Yirgacheffe: delicate, sweet, and beautifully refined.
