Coffee breakdown:
Origin: Gomma, Ethiopia
Variety: JARC 74110
Process: Natural
Producer: Abedo Abamecha Ahmed
Altitude: 1900-2100 m
4 years ago Abedo Abamecha Ahmed inherited his father's 30-hectare estate and was thrust into the world of coffee production. Located in Illbu Kebele within the Gomma Woreda region in southwestern Ethiopia. The elevation range is between 1900 and 2100 MASL providing cool evenings and warm days. This agriculturally diverse region is best known for producing coffee, fruits and spices planted on red clay soils which are sticky in the rainy season and hard in the dry season. The dense mineral composition of the soils in Gomma lend themselves to quality agricultural production, thriving under a green thumb and exceptional for high quality coffee varieties. The JARC 74110 coffee variety was selected from the “mother tree” in the 1970’s by the “Jimma Agricultural Resource Centre” and is renowned for its exceptionally fruity and clean profile. A memorable experience when handled well at all stages at the farm level, this lot from Abedo is a beautiful expression of provenance from the Gomma region.
